Objectives and Key Deliverables
A leading supplier of rights managed Art, Culture & historic images for licensing and reproduction is looking to frame their long term strategy and business plan.
We require a report on the state of the industry. This report will consist of 4 elements:
1) Market Size and Trend in context of Copyright law.
Market size and trends in picture borrowing in the context of the changes in copyright law and business practices. Images in their library are: wholly owned, licensed on behalf of (mainly) cultural institutions and copyright free, where they offer access to reproduce-able images.
2) Growth and asset data analysis.
Any additional data at a more granular level would be useful for operational decision making. For example, demand/growth data at country level, quantity of images versus average price, sector, Rights Managed v Royalty Free, Footage v Stills.
3) Impact of changing landscape on pricing.
One of the issues that will affect their business is how much prices are likely to be forced down in the future by the waring picture-library titans and the escalation of Creative Commons, Open Source, etc.
Hence, the report should look at the size of the market for rights managed content as well as the impact of open source. It can be quite difficult to disambiguate between RM and royalty free so you normally get a massively over- egged forecast of growth driven by major player reports which is a million miles away from their reality.
4) Usage behaviour trends.
70% of the company's business is derived from the editorial market ( publishing: newspapers and magazines and tv) it would be useful to see what predictions can reasonably be made about the trends and usage behaviour of those specific sectors both in the UK and globally.
Minimum requirements for consultant:
- Experience writing business plans and reports.
- Market analysis experience.
- Modelling experience would be highly advantageous.
- Former analyst or associate level management consultant .
