Objectives and Key Deliverables
We have a successful UK-based software platform (+ services) working within the Creative & Technology sector, providing tools to find and manage freelance talent. We operate a complete end-to-end service that includes complex worker classification (independent contractor, self-employed, etc.) and payment. This presents a challenge when looking to expand internationally - as we are required to adapt to the specific tax and employment law regime of any given country.
Many of our largest clients are themselves global businesses, and have offered to help us to expand our service internationally, and have hinted that an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) would be just the parts of our service that _could_ transfer to another jurisdiction - i.e. without worker classification or payments.
The objective of the project, therefore, is to understand what that really means in practice, and to help define the smallest subset of existing functionality that we could launch with internationally. i.e. If we were to remove functions from the platform, how far can we go whilst still offering a product that adds value to our clients. This new 'entry' product would probably follow a SaaS model.
In summary - we have a successful, but highly complex, software platform that works well in a single jurisdiction (UK) - we need to define a very simple software product that would work in _any_ jurisdiction.
The project will involved meeting with existing clients, getting under the hood of the existing platform, understanding what it does, where clients see the value, where the complexity lies.
The key deliverable is a Product Strategy document, sufficient in detail to enable the YJ product team to design and build the corresponding service, together with a launch plan that works with existing clients.
