Objectives and Key Deliverables

We are a private equity firm with dual headquarters in London and New York. We focus on control-oriented investments in European and North American companies, partnering with highly capable management teams and seeking situations characterised by complexity.

We are looking to strengthen our established Portfolio Operating Team with the addition of a Procurement Portfolio Advisor, who will provide support entirely focused on procurement and supply chain‐related topics to portfolio companies and deal teams throughout the lifecycle of the investment.

The role will be based out of our office in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The role will require working closely with European portfolio companies’ management companies, therefore frequent on‐site work and travel (primarily within Europe) should be expected.

The role will be initially based on a temporary contract of 6 months, with the potential for subsequently transitioning to a permanent role. The start date will be, ideally, May 2019.

The role will be configured as an external, independent advisor to our deal teams and made available to our portfolio companies. The Procurement Portfolio Advisor will report to the Portfolio Group Lead in London.

The Procurement Portfolio Advisor will focus primarily on execution of both deals and value creation initiatives (indicatively, at least 70% of the time will be allocated to such tasks); secondly, he/she will perform an advisory role (e.g. sharing best practices) to portfolio companies.

The role’s main responsibilities will be:
 Supporting the due diligence process (procurement spend review, site visits...): identification and quantification of value creation opportunities in procurement

 Developing strong relationships with portfolio companies’ CEOs and management teams, maintaining regular contact with them and, particularly, with Chief Procurement Officers

 Providing advice and collaborating with management teams to identify improvement opportunities in procurement and supply chain, providing support as required through the scoping and execution of these initiatives

 In alignment with a portfolio company’s management, directly conducting execution to deliver savings other improvement opportunities

 Proposing and supporting the implementation and use of standard procurement systems, management and tools

 Actively track benefits generated by initiatives rolled out across existing portfolio companies, systematically set‐up savings tracking for newly acquired companies

 Actively disseminating knowledge about procurement best practices and relevant information (e.g. prices, advantageous contract frameworks, market trends) among our portfolio companies, supporting the development of skills in procurement and supply chain at portfolio companies, both directly and, where applicable, by leveraging external help

 Identifying, engaging and developing strong relationships with the best outside parties and consulting providers with expertise in procurement and supply chain

 Supporting companies’ exit readiness specifically for what concerns topics related to procurement and supply chain

 Identifying, rolling out and managing opportunities for companies to join external purchasing platforms

 Operating as a team together with the Portfolio Group as a trusted advisor to deal teams and portfolio companies


Desirable profile:
- 10-20+ years combined of relevant experience in procurement, including both as:
 Engagement manager or equivalent within a specialised procurement consultancy or procurement specialist within an established generalist management consultancy
 Manager or Chief Procurement Officer in a company (with line management responsibilities)
- Relevant university degree (Bachelor or higher)
- Experience working in multiple countries
- Prior exposure to Private Equity
- Transaction and due diligence experience
- Procurement-specific skills
- Development and implementation of procurement optimisation projects
- Sourcing and tendering experience
- Experience in managing supplier relationships
- Demonstrated experience working in team, under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Understanding of multiple industries and ability to quickly get up to speed when introduced to a new business
- Multilingual English + 2 other main European languages
- Collaborating and influencing
- Results delivery
- Strong financial understanding spanning P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
