Our Client (based in Germany) is currently working with a mid-cap company in Europe and would like to
understand more about the market they operate in and their specific products.

machine tool manufacturing (i.e. CNC machines with functions such as

market overview: market segmentation (e.g. by machine types/users, high/low
quality machines, country/region etc.)
Who are the
relevant competitors in "our" specific segment?
of individual machine types/products (comparing machines between competitors)
developments/trends in this industry
Etc.The client would see the project as follows - "phase 1": a couple of days of research and discussions with the client. Potentially followed by a more extensive "phase 2" including a more detailed commercial due diligence assistance. The work can probably mostly be done from a distance (i.e. communicating by phone/email), no traveling involved.
a technical background in the machine tool industry in Europe (maybe from a
prior position in this industry or from relevant consultancy work)
familiar with commercial due diligence procedures
to English, German language skills would be great benefit
