JOB PURPOSE
The responsibilities and duties of the Functional Lead (Head) of Digital Transformation are to lead and manage a major increase in use of Digital, Online and Automation techniques as well as Agile & Kaizen techniques for process improvement across Client Organisation to improve customer service and decrease costs.


JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- As a member of the Senior Leadership team (SLT), assume responsibility for the successful use of automation & digital techniques to improve the effectiveness of Client’s lines of business and support functions.
- Provide leadership on the creation of strategic change plans using Digital to the benefit of Client organisation, promoting brand equity and achievement of competitive advantage and/or cost reduction and productivity improvement.
- Represent Client publicly in areas relating to the digital economy, demonstrating thought leadership in the industry and making Client known for its Digital ambitions and capabilities.
- With regard to Client organisation strategy
• Develop and formulate long range and annual strategies and business plans for use of digital automation across Client organisation and their impact on operating lines of business
• Secure Management Team (MT) approval for the strategies and oversee & drive the execution of all agreed strategies relating to digital transformation including those assigned to other SLT members. Review and monitor performance on key parameters periodically and develop course correction plans as necessary.
- With regard to Execution of Initiatives and Operation of solutions
• Lead all Divisions in establishing processes to support sustained agile delivery of agreed initiatives.
• Manage centrally external specialist resources engaged as part of this and their allocation to divisions / initiatives in line with the agreed set of initiatives, along with collaboration spaces & other tools. (eg. Process Re-Engineering specialists, Design Thinking specialists, Scrum Masters.)
• Lead process simplification, standardisation and re-engineering in support of digitization.
• Ensure a coherent set of Digital initiatives through central coordination and through a Framework for prioritization, approval and resource allocation and through maintenance of target process and technology architectures including IT Architecture.
• Personally sponsor and drive the delivery of selected Digital Transformation initiatives
• Lead and maintain relationships with industry partners relating to the use of digital techniques and leading-edge technology options & related business concepts.
- Transformation
• With P&O, support each MMT member in Culture and Change Management initiatives both specifically in support of agreed Digital initiatives and more generally in establishment of an agile, lean, possibility-focussed digital-first operating model and culture.
- The Functional Lead (Head) of Digital Transformation is the Chair of the Digital Breakthrough Team, a cross-functional council of SLT peers, and so provides overall guidance and motivation to all staff working on digital initiatives across Client organisation. They directly lead and line manage a team of 6-10 staff plus contractors as required by the program of work.


IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Education - Bachelors Degree in a relevant field eg. Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Business
- Work Experience - At least 15 years with a substantial and recent part of that in applying ‘Digital’ techniques to process re-engineering and company transformation (not limited to Digital Channel), and a substantial part of it in a Telecommunications-related industry (including e-Commerce and/or Banking). Should demonstrate line-leadership experience and significant cross-functional virtual-team leadership experience.
- Skills/Knowledge - A majority of :
• Business use of IT & automation
• Process evaluation and re-engineering
• Financial modelling of impacts of internal and external process change
• Agile work practices (ideally in functions not involving software development)
• Intra-company networking and building consensus on change programs
• New product development
• Good communication skills in English both written and oral.
• Personal traits: Positive, Passionate, Collaborative. A self-starter, able and motivated to both perform and lead under pressure in a challenging environment.
