Objectives and Key Deliverables
We are an innovative company with a unique, patented technology enabling us to produce algae at scale. Our vision is to introduce to the world a new, large and sustainable source of alternative proteins and essential oils at a scale which makes a significant impact on the growing protein deficit and on our plant’s sustainability. We are targeting the fish meal, fertiliser and nutrapharmaceuticals markets.
We wish to perform a detailed industry analysis on the alternative protein industry, with a special focus on algae and its direct and indirect competitors in the key segments. This analysis will include market sizing, segmentation, competitor analysis (including products, production capabilities and strategies, operating cost and capital structure), product pricing, trend analysis, customer identification and segmentation and the like.
We wish to quantify the growing protein deficit overall and specifically with regard to our key target segments, identify their current suppliers (algae and beyond), the pricing and ‘go-to-market’ approaches, growth dynamics, etc.
Finally, we would need a comparison between leading competitors (in the algae and other competitor products arena) and our company’s production capabilities.
As the company has been in existence for 6 years, there are data available, in addition to off-the-shelf industry analyses. We are looking for a consultant to help us fill in the gaps, bring the analysis up to date and present the information in a comprehensive but digestible fashion.
1. 2-3 years experience at reputable strategy consulting firm (BCG, Monitor Deloitte, McKinsey or equivalent).
2. Previous experience conducting industry, market and competitor analysis.
3. Experience in the alternative protein sector would be nice to have but not a must.
The majority of the role can be carried out remotely but some travel to London would be required. Daily rate is negotiable and depends on seniority.
